Here’s another one of those films that I like a whole lot more than anyone I know. It gets no attention anymore, and most people these days haven’t even heard of it, or have at least completely forgotten about it. It’s a great Ridley Scott movie (his amazing talent for visual style is in abundant display in this film). Vangelis is one of my top favorite music artists, in or out of the film score genre. In fact, film scores are a secondary thing for him. This is my favorite of his film scores, and is one of my favorite film scores in general. It has a wide variety of styles through, as the movie has a fairly broad set of moods and styles as it progresses. The score is definitely one of the big pieces of what makes this film work so well (for me, anyway).
